Like many of us during the pandemic, I have ordered my fair share of takeout. One amazing place that I have been ordering from in the last few months is Coriander Bistro in Sharon, and I was shocked to hear that none of my friends had ever heard of it before.
Coriander is a restaurant mainly focusing on Indian and Nepali food, with an amazing variety of dishes that are almost impossible to choose between because they all look so good. The restaurant only opened in July, when it replaced a French restaurant also called Coriander. Of course, since the new Coriander serves Indian and Nepali food, “the name suits this incarnation even better than it did the original.”
Ordering from Coriander is extremely convenient, as you can get takeout from 12-9pm, Monday to Sunday. I’ve found that the food transports pretty well, and it stays warm even though we live 20 minutes away. Even though picking up food isn’t exactly the same as actually eating in a restaurant, I’ve found that ordering at Coriander is like an event in my family, where we all share appetizers and stuff ourselves with amazing food.
One of the best things at Coriander other than their meals is the naan. For those of you who have never had it, naan is a flat, oven-baked bread. I’d recommend getting one per person and dipping it in the three sauces that they give you with your order. I cannot say enough good things about these naans. We’ve tried plenty of the flavors, from onion to chicken. But my personal favorite has to be the garlic naan. The worst part about the naan is how easy it is to fill up on it before you even start your meal.
Speaking of meals, there’s plenty on the menu at Coriander, so
much that I probably haven’t tried half of the dishes. Coriander has plenty of vegetarian options too, so there is something for everyone to enjoy. My favorite meal to get is the chicken dosa. It’s the perfect amount of spicy and savory, and even writing about it now is making my mouth water. Dosas are crepe-like wraps with potatoes and vegetables inside. Even though I love the dosa, my Dad absolutely swears by the tikka masala, a curry dish with a tomato-based sauce, while the rest of my family loves the regular chicken curry.
Even if you don’t normally like Indian or Nepali food, I would strongly recommend Coriander Bistro to everyone due to the variety and quality of their food.
